Slaid, just wanted to say that for me, your music really is what country music has always held the promise to be. It's almost casually devastating, at its best. Songs like "Wishbone," "One Good Year," and "Horseshoe Lounge" have been a tremendous kind of musical therapy for me at many of the darkest times in my life. In your songs I hear a musical lineage that moves uneasily from Johnny Cash to Bob Dylan and George Jones. You really know, or at least imagine perfectly, what down and out looks like. Thank you for your songs.
But none of this is a question! When will you come to Arizona? You're on a very small list of people I want to see live.
Thanks, Sophie. I like your description: casually devastating. As Woody Guthrie said: A songwriter's job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
I'm hoping we'll make it back to the Southwest toward the end of 2014.

Hello Slaid, just to THANK YOU for the beautiful show I just saw at the Blue Rock Studio, from France. And as we can ask you a question, I just have one: what is your dog's name?
