Hi, My name is Clay. Im a fellow Mainer. Ive been a big fan for a long time. My friend gave me a copy of Wishbone years ago and Ive been a fan ever since. Im a songwriter, and have always wondered if my songs were actually any good. I write country, blues and folk/rock type stuff. My question for you is, is there a safe way to find an ear for these songs? Can you recommend anyone, or any place I should start? This is my biggest passion and Im just looking for a little direction. Thank you for all the great music youve put out there!!

Hey Clay, If you enjoy writing and playing your songs, then they're "good," at least on one level. If you want to try them out on the public you could play them at parties (clambake!) or the local open mic, and see what kind of reaction you get. Through the open mics you might find a small group of like-minded writers who you'll eventually trust enough to bounce ideas back and forth with, and maybe write together. If you're too shy for all that, make a simple recording and pass them around to friends. If they ask for more, then you must be good!
