Just wanted to thank you bro. Your music was a beautiful escape throughout my deployments to Iraq 2004-2006. Whatever horrible, unbelievable crap was going on, when I finally got back to my rack and turned your music on, I wasn't in a world of sh*t, but back in Alabama with my dog and my girl. Thank You.
10 years on, your music still takes me away. Your words on "Still fighting the war" ring so true. It will never get easier, but knowing the load is shared is a blessing. Keep writing my man, you have a gift.
Best to you,
JB - It means the world to me that you took the time to write. It's so gratifying to hear that my music has done some good in the world. Thank you.
Hey Slaid! Looking forward to seeing you in May in Maine. I'd like to revisit a question posted 4 years ago regarding vinyl. Not just hipsters anymore. It's made a big comeback and many artists are releasing on it. I would humbly suggest a limited release of your next album on vinyl. Even if it were 100 copies offered autographed on your website. I would be blown away if they didn't sell. MikeSlaid Cleaves responded on 04/03/2016 Next question
Isee that you will be in lake Charles on 7/23/16 and in BR on 7/24/16 (Love Red Draggon Seiries). But more importantly, it means you will be passing through Lafayette on Sat. afternoon. Any chance you would be down to take a break and maybe have a jam session with some of these awesome Cajuns that "Will keep pickin all night long? I have loved your music for years. I first heard you at Chetham Street warehouse. I spent many a nights (and many a days) listening to awesome singer/songwriters and musicians. I miss watching musicians play together for the first time & collaborate or just jam out with old &/or new friends. Lafayette has a ton of Amazing musical talent. I would love to hear some of my favs from home come jam out with some of my favs here (esp since so many of them sing about Louisiana). These Cajuns are a music loving people. If you're down, I'll even plan the whole thing. And feed you (and whoever you are rolling with) some good homemade Cajun food. Pretty please?Slaid Cleaves responded on 04/20/2016
