Hi Slaid, remember when you played some shows in Alaska fior Whistling Swan? I went to one of them, and have never forgotten those wonderfully spun lyrics. I'm in San Antonio this weekend, and was delighted to see your name on Sam's roster. We will see you this evening, can't wait to hear your new tunes!
Hey Suzy - Glad to see you in SATX Friday. I'll make it back to Alaska some day . . .
Great show the other night at Saxon. You are a terrific songwrier.
Only one small quibble: Mountains streams damaged by coal mine runoff don't run black. They tend to be crystal clear, with some orange fringe on the banks, because the acid kills all fish and plant life. (And also very cleansing for insect bites and other small wounds.) I've paddled the rapids of West Va's Cheat River a lot, and that stream is just plain dead. It feels like paddlng in lemonade.
Hello Slaid, I enjoyed your podcast with Otis Gibbs, and am now a fan of your music. Your songs are as cool as your name. Q- if you were just starting today as a singer-songwriter, what city would you move to? Having been to NYC, LA, and Austin, the decision was made (for me), that the rent is too damn high. Ha. But seriously would you still go to Austin? Anything you’d do differently these days?Slaid Cleaves responded on 11/26/2018
